# Performance Overview

The Mercury 60HP Command Thrust Outboard is engineered for applications that require stronger pushing power rather than aggressive top-end speed.

That matters because many heavier boats struggle with standard mid-range engines. However, the Command Thrust configuration improves hole shot performance and overall control under load.

Furthermore, the larger gearcase helps maintain better propeller grip during rougher conditions. Consequently, operators benefit from smoother handling and more consistent power delivery.

Because Mercury designed this engine around practical marine use, it remains popular among fishing boat owners and commercial operators alike.
